Why this product
A huge empty pool created the long diffuse tails; its locker rooms supplied the immediate slap. Rotten Pool keeps both families of responses inside one deliberately destructive instrument.
The story
Kristian Kohle found a decaying swimming pool, carried microphones into the empty space and captured its natural reflections. The large hall produced long, diffuse reverbs while the locker rooms delivered short, hard slaps with a completely different scale.
Move between the huge diffuse pool and the hard slap of its locker rooms.
Add two complementary saturation characters and reinforce the short-room engine.
Place the high and low cuts before or after the reverb, then balance predelay, decay, mix and output.

Choose FAR or CLOSE across bright, mid and dark long reverbs, then combine them with RAW or SMOKED short responses and the MEAT control for immediate locker-room impact.

The source was not a stock hall algorithm. Microphones placed inside the abandoned location captured the scale, reflections and imperfect surfaces that give Rotten Pool its identity.

The location recordings were brought back into Kristian Kohle’s studio, edited into distinct long and short spaces and prepared as the raw material for the finished reverb instrument.
